I just found out my investments aren't halal. What do I do now?

First, breathe. The fact that this worries you is itself a good sign — it means your heart is alive to it, alhamdulillah. Most people never check. You did. So let us deal with it the way it deserves: calmly, honestly, and without panic.
The short answer: You do not need to sell everything today, and you are not sinful for what you genuinely did not know. What you owe now is three things — stop adding to it, see clearly what you hold, and purify the portion that came from haram.
The feeling that you must sell everything this instant, or that years of investing are now sin you cannot escape, is the panic talking — not the deen. Islam is not trying to trap you. It is trying to clean you. So we work in order, not in fear.
Most people freeze at the same place: a vague worry, but no clear sense of which holdings are actually the problem. You cannot fix what you have not named. The whole job becomes manageable the moment you see it clearly, holding by holding.
- Stop the bleeding — do not buy any more of what you now know does not pass.
- See clearly what you hold — go through your portfolio one position at a time, not as a vague mass of worry.
- Separate the clearly impermissible — a conventional bank, an interest-bearing bond. These are not borderline.
- Purify — work out the portion of your gains that came from impermissible sources and give it away, as a cleansing. On paper, never in your head.
Remember why this is worth the effort. On the Day you are raised, you will be asked about your wealth — how you earned it, and how you spent it (At-Tirmidhi). Cleaning your portfolio is not admin. It is part of preparing that answer. SubhanAllah, how much lighter you walk when you know it is clean.
The hardest part is actually seeing, holding by holding, what passes and what needs attention.
That is exactly what the Portfolio Mirror does. You enter what you hold; it shows you in plain language what passes the screen and what needs attention, and walks you toward purifying the rest. No account needed.
Open the Portfolio MirrorThis is education, not personalized financial advice or a religious ruling. Screening status can change, and your situation is your own. Confirm a specific holding against its current Shariah screening, and any ruling with a qualified scholar you trust. The decision, as always, is yours, before Allah.
